A Timed Rally

Last year I decided to complete an Iron Butt certified ride - the Saddlesore 1000. That was not fun, but it did feel good to complete the ride. This year my sites are set on completing my first timed rally - the BMRx rally. The basic premise is that you have a set amount of time, 66 hours in this case, to complete a ride that includes a minimum number of checkpoints. The checkpoints for this rally for me are Bend, OR, Ridgecrest, CA and Tooele, UT (near Salt Lake City). The riders already know the corner checkpoints, but we don't learn all of the remaining bonus locations until 1 hour before the rally starts net Friday morning. This rally also appeals to me because there are two mandatory rest bonus stops.

Hardcore riders will amass thousands of miles in a quest to win the rally. My goal is to just finish this first time. If there is some low hanging fruit then I will stop. Otherwise, just finish safely.

Here is an idea of my general route for this rally before extra bonus locations are revealed.

My Generic BMRx Route - Before Extra Bonus Additions

Here is a link to my tracking page if you are interested in following my ride. It becomes active Thursday morning and is updated about every 10 minutes while I am riding. I'll try to update on the road, but may find that sleep is more important!

Should be a blast! My route takes me through some very beautiful areas of the country.
